Rovers target Cedric Mongongu has made it perfectly clear where his transfer choice lies – it’s at Rovers!

A number of clubs are believed to be keen on the strong Congo centre back despite a few discussion everything had gone a bit quiet on the transfer front… until now!

Mongongu is ready to chase his Premier League dream and after Monaco and Rovers entered into talks over his move with the player also keen to make the switch.

Mongongu`s agent Christophe Mongai told the Lancashire Telegraph – “He would like to join Blackburn Rovers. There have been a lot of clubs interested in him but yes, he wants to come to Blackburn and the Premier League. That is his wish.

“The two clubs are in discussions, and the player is in discussions with Monaco and Blackburn. We can`t say anything has been sorted yet but we hope it will be soon.

“Discussions between everyone will go on.”

Has anyone come up with a better Um Bongu chant yet? Looks like we’ll need it!

  • although more than likely he is wanting to use blackburn as a stepping stone to something bigger, he sounds like he would be a fantastic signing…very encouraging when there are other clubs chasing after him

  • Has anybody actually seen this lad play? This isn’t like Souness’s wonder signing at Southampton, an unknown African who apparently was George Weah’s cousin, turned out he couldn’t kick snow off a rope and the videos Souness had watched were fakes, cost Southampton a million plus and Souey looked a right tit.

  • Get him signed ASAP so the negative press can concentrate on another club for a few days. They’re already starting to say nobody will sign for us beccause we’re so unstable and Venky’s have a buyer lined up already?? I hope the owners prove everybody wrong with this lad being the first of a few decent signings.

  • This sounds very promising. The earlier we can see the club taking some positive steps, the better we’ll all feel!

  • I think there doing a fine job with the transfer window. There spending wisely and not rushing signings. You have to remember that there budget 20 mill for jones and and 20 mill they had there selves is both for transfers and wages. So there not doing to bad really 2.5 mil for mongongu, pavone for free.
