Nikola Kalinic is ready to sign for Blackburn according to reports in the Croatian media.

The Hadjuk Split and Croatia international striker was due to move to Pompey as we discussed at length on VB this morning but more details have reached my desk that indicate more clarification on the situation.

Kalinic’s agent Tomislav Erceg has been in the media today in Croatia explaining the situation with his client and what has happened since he they have been in England.

Erceg told sportal.hr in Croatia – ‘When we arrived in Portsmouth on Tuesday, they told us to wait until Friday morning. We didn’t want them to play games with us so we decided to leave straight away for London,’

‘In the meantime we receive a concrete off from Blackburn, who were since the beginning interested. So we immediately left London for Blackburn.’

‘We didn’t go to Portugal, the last few days were spent in Blackburn. They greeted Kalinic like a true star, they are expected big things from him this season.’

‘We received the official offer and I have to admit that it was the best one of all the ones we have received to date for Kalinic. Very quickly we finished the talks with the club [Blackburn]. We had a number of offers for Kalinic, but this one was absolutely the best.’

The reported fee is apparently about £6.5 million and if these quotes are accurate then Kalinic should be unveiled once a work permit has been obtained.

This looks like the BIG summer signing if the agent is to be believed.

  • well croatian football is on the up, and if he is anything like eduardo we have a steal and he is the right age, not experianced in prem and alot to learn but its a positive signing if this turns out to be the case

  • magic!! this is a good signing! up and coming star, playing with a national team, and a well respected one at that! if he steps up his game to premier league standard, he can turn us into europe contenders…. but to be honest,im just happy we’ve finally got our big signing!

  • good god I think you have just beaten Sas’ record GRB! I dont think it is final yet (as we have learnt from that Ghilas deal) but these signs look good.

  • If you want to read the croatian articles about the transfer at sportal.hr you can use: translate.google.com. Terrific programme. Just insert the webadress of the article and choose croatian to english (or i my case danish) Works pritty well!

  • you have to be weary of agents – they say what they want people to hear, altho, and this could be agent talk again, kalinic wanted to sign for pompey…apparently hart hasnt given up on him either? time will tell on this!

  • lol GRB!!! i will hunt you down!!! double/triple posting is all mine!!! This could be a great signing, lets hope we get a few years out of him though!!!!

  • After Eduardo, Modric, Niko Kranjcar, Corluka another Croatian player coming. Kalinic is young with excellent prospect, now, everything depends of him. He need time to adaption. He isn’t class like Eduardo but he can do a lot.

  • I hope we do get him, Porto heavily linked too, let’s hope we impressed him enough and after a bit of time to settle in he should be banging in the goals
