Morten Gamst Pedersen is in confident mood there will be no repeat of the calamity of last season with the right man in chareg and everyone back fit.
The Blackburn Rovers midfielder has over the last few seasons turned from a spectacular player into a hard working grafter which is the embodiment of the player that Rovers boss Big Sam likes and thrives on.
Since Sam took over, Rovers home form was outstanding and the reason Rovers avoided the drop. Morten himself even bagged his customary late season goal but will be expected to way in with a lot mroe goals next season as one goal for an attacking left sided player of his calibre is quite frankly rubbish.
Pedersen though believes Sam Allardyce`s managerial appointment has rekindled the enthusiasm of the Rovers squad and he believes there is plenty to look forward to and with good reason.
One of the reasons, MGP feels for last season’s downturn was the long lasting injuries of Roque Santa Cruz, Brett Emerton, Steven Reid, David Dunn and Jason Roberts, all of whom are show ins for the match day squads when fit.
Morten, speaking to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph said – “We have been really unlucky with injuries. Last year and the season before we did not have those problems so it is always going to be your turn.
“Every year one team has that problem so maybe this year was our year. We just had to handle it.
‘What can you do? You have to work hard with the players you have got and hopefully we can get everyone fit for next season.
“We have got five first team players out. Half of our team was out, we are looking forward to next season and when everyone is ready to play.
“There will be more competition, players will be sharper, so it is almost like new signings without spending the money on them. I am looking forward to some more good times next time around.”
So, all good then. Nice to see some positive attitude for once!
