As I’m sure most Blackburn Rovers fans know Morten Gamst Pedersen has had a rib injury, but this has now been confirmed as a break by Mark Hughes.

When the Norwegian International picked up the injury in the game with Manchester United earlier in November causing him to miss a recent Norwegian International friendly initial fears were he had broken a rib, but these were denied.

Mark Hughes has now confirmed that Pedersen had in fact sustained a break and had to have a pain killing injection to face Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, will do the same tomorrow when we face Feyenoord and will continue to do so to enable him to play through the pain.

He’s going to get some discomfort but, if he needs injections for games, we’ll give them to him,” Hughes said.

Personally I’ve never broken ribs so I don’t know what it is like but can imagine this is very painful!

I know we are going through a difficult patch at the moment but maybe this could be an ideal time to give Pedersen a rest and Sergio Peter a go? Pedersen hasn’t been in the best of form this season so maybe a spell out of the side will give Pedersen something to think about and see him return along with a change in fortunes?

Meanwhile Rovers’ young Irish winger Keith Treacy is set to become the latest youngster shipped out on loan.

The 18-year-old left-winger is a regular in the reserves this season turning in a series of impressive displays for Glyn Hodges’ team and is rumoured to be a target of Stockport County, initially on a month long loan. Stockport currently have another young Rovers talent on loan in Treacy’s compatriot Tony Kane.

Treacy is so highly rated by Hughes that he called him into the senior side during pre-season when only 17, handing him a squad number of 29 shortly after.
