Long serving Rovers player Morten Gamst Pedersen is ready to banish the memory of a header that has plagued his memory since 2007.

It was six years ago that at Old Trafford, Morten Gamst Pedersen planted a fairly routine header inches wide, with Rovers locked at 1-1 in their FA Cup Semi Final with Chelsea. There were minutes left.

To this day Rovers fans occasionally reminisce about the glaring miss that cost us all a chance to go to Wembley. But this weekend Morten Gamst Pedersen will get a chance to right that wrong.

Rovers head to the New Den and into battle with Millwall for a place in the FA Cup Semi Finals with the chance to book a place at Wembley, with the Norwegian, who has been at the club since 2004 wanting to grab a chance to finally book Rovers a Wembley place.

Pedersen told the Daily Mail – ‘I remember that game like it was yesterday, we played so well. It was maybe one of the best games we’ve played during my time here.

‘We out-played Chelsea for the 90 minutes and for most of extra time. Everyone felt we deserved to win that game.

‘I actually had two headers. One beat Petr Cech and hit the inside of the post and another went outside it. You remember those things and it would have been great to reach the first cup final at the new Wembley – but it’s history now. The only thing we can affect now is the future.`

Both sides will fancy their chances with Millwall and Rovers both getting what would be referred to as ‘favourable draws’, but Morten is keen to end what has been another difficult season in a good way.

‘It would be an amazing achievement after what’s happened this season,` Pedersen continued.

‘To get the chance to travel down with the fans and play in the new Wembley – but we have a job to do first. You don’t get anything for free, you see what happens in some of the other cups.`
