MOTD (2) Not So Bad?

I don’t think it is too much of a secret that supporters of Blackburn Rovers and followers of teams other than the big four are not too keen on the BBC or Sky Sports, Match of the Day 2 however is different.

Unless you follow the big four it is rare that your side is one of the feature matches on Match of the Day (unless you are playing them or they aren’t it action!) it is also no secret that the BBC and Sky Sports heavily favour these big four.

I haven’t watched it much this season I must admit but have always quite liked Match of the Day 2, shown usually on BBC2 on a Sunday Evening. They have a West Bromwich Albion supporting presenter in Adrian Chilles (I do like this guy even though he repeats virtually EVERY word at least twice in a sentence!) that is also a true fan and as such appreciates the game more, and he doesn’t stand on ceremony, he views ALL as equals, and rightly so.

I happened to catch the end of the programme tonight, when I switched on my TV and it automatically picked up BBC1 (with it being the World Snooker Final MOTD2 had been moved from BBC2 to BBC1) and I managed to pick up Two Good, Two Bad, a feature at the end of the show in which they look at the weekends high and low points in comical fashion. This time it was the best of compilation and featured not one, but two Rovers moments!

The first was a hilarious moment, which I remember from the Reading match at the Madejski Stadium when David Bentley had run from half way to score the winner and in the goal celebration’s Benni McCarthy copped himself a feel!

Their top Two Good, Two Bad moment of the season was Mark Hughes’ “Job done” pulling up of his trousers with a look on his face as if to say, “that’ll do!” to which the commentator said something like “Mark Hughes pulls up his trousers as if to say job done.” Unless you saw the programme this probably won’t have the comedy value it did to me?

So, if you can wait a further 24-hours to still see Rovers in as much detail in their coverage by Match of the Day 2 as you would 24-hours earlier on Match of the Day you are just as well off waiting as Match of the Day 2 on a Sunday from now on! It is generally far more entertaining with a more light hearted view of the weekends games from an impartial presenter and generally more entertaining guests anyway!
