Neill’s Rovers Return Approaches

After leaving Blackburn Rovers for West Ham United in January Lucas Neill makes a return to Ewood Park after less than two months as the relegation threatened Hammers come to Ewood this weekend.

Lucas Neill was a good servant to Rovers and despite his somewhat controversial move to “the Hammered” (as West Ham have been christened), controversial in the respect that it was in fact them that landed him, not the move at all as this was always expected, hopefully he will get a decent reception. Neill said when speaking on the official Hammered website:

It’s going to be strange. I’ve got a lot of good friends there and I’m very respectful of the team, the coaches and the manager.

I had a good relationship with the fans as well so it’s going to be very strange. They need to win for European places and we need to win for survival. We’ll have to put friendship aside and do what we’ve got to do to get the points.”

As I say Neill was a good servant so hopefully he gets a decent reception but will obviously come in for some abuse. It would be good to here are few choruses of songs that we have come up with here on vital Blackburn, Can You Here the Rovers Sing – click here.

Here is a small selection.

In the style of Michael Jackson’s blame it on the boogie?
“You didn’t go for the sunshine
Might have gone for the biscuits
Can’t have gone for the trophies
You went for the money!!!”

In the style of DJ Otsi’s Hey baby?
“Heyyyyyy, Heyyyyy Lucas
Gree-dy!! (Instead of Hoo Haa),
You’re on your wayyyyyyyy to the Championship!”

In the style of Kool and the Gang’s Celebrate good times?
“Relegation times
Come on!!
d d d d d d d d wahooo!”

At the time I was bitterly disappointed in Neill’s decision to opt for the Hammered but this decision looks very much like being one that will see him drop down to the Championship at the end of the season instead of hopefully ending it with an FA Cup Final. Victory for Rovers will almost certainly condemn Neill and the Hammered to their fate.
