Rovers club captain Ryan Nelsen has admitted he might consider playing in the Australian A-League to close out his playing days.

Nelsen has two years left on his current Blackburn deal but after that expires the chance is there to look at his options.

Nelsen, spoke to ESPN and said – ‘I’ve still got two years left at Blackburn but after that, maybe, I’m not sure how much more will be left in the legs after that. A lot of Australian players have gone back and done really well.’

As the Australian League of football continues to rise in prominence, the New Zealander believes that others from Australia/Oceania may look to move back there…

Ryan continued – ‘It’s great for both countries, it’s exciting for the A-League (if players return home). Hopefully some of our players come back as well and this league will improve.’

I don’t think anyone will begrudge Ryan a move back nearer to home as he will be mid-30’s at the end of his current deal and his outstanding service to Rovers should allow him to make a call on his future.
