Ryan Nelsen believes Europe could be a genuine possibility for the Rovers this season, with just 4 days to go before the start of the hotly anticipated Premier League season.

Nelsen actually feels that the lack of transfer activity has bought about a consistency within the squad and a settled feeling… very philosophical.

Nelsen spoke to Sky Sports and said – ‘We are well capable of qualifying for Europe,’

‘We have good stability in the team. It is extremely obvious we need new people in certain positions but the stability that the signings of Morten Gamst Pedersen, Phil Jones and the rest bring is hugely important for the club.’

Nelsen is also very excited that his own place is not guaranteed… which is strange for some other players who can’t see past the end of their own nose.

Nelsen faces an epic battle with Phil Jones and Chris Samba for two of the three starting berths in the Rovers central defence.

The Admiral continued – ‘Competition is part of life, I am not getting any younger and we have some incredibly good players.

‘You get to a certain age where it is not about you any more, it is about the club you play for.

‘I love to see good young kids progressing. If I have to sit in the reserves for the rest of the season and Blackburn win, I will be happy.’

That last line proves every single day of the week why Nelsen is THE MAN.
