Blackburn Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen has been given Paul Ince’s approval to represent New Zealand at the Beijing Olympic Games this summer.

New Zealand wanted Nelsen to skipper their Under-23 Olympic squad as one of the over-age player that you are allowed, and Stu Jacobs has been given this approval by Ince so God will be a part of the squad that starts the Olympic bid, even if he isn’t part of the squad that ends it.

Jacobs told nzsoccer: “It’s great news.

“We’ve got one of the world’s best defenders lining up for us in two crucial matches.

“The reality is that the club didn’t have to release the player so Blackburn have really come to the party.

“They’ve got a new manager in Paul Ince who hasn’t even met his captain yet but he said he knew Ryan was desperate to play and given the magnitude of the Olympic Games he was more than happy to help out where he could
.”

However, God WON’T miss the start of the Premier League season as had been feared as he will join up with the Kiwi’s ahead of their opening match against China, but will return after their second against Brazil to be back in time for the seasons opener against Everton!!!
