Ryan Nelsen’s injury, which has kept him out of pre-season, should be fully cleared up in time for the trip to Sheffield United on Saturday 9th September.

Nelsen, such an instrumental part of the Rovers back four has, and will continue to be sorely missed so his return can’t come soon enough, especially if Saturday`s mauling is anything to go by. The injury, first thought to be hamstring related has now finally been diagnosed a “torn buttock muscle.” Nelsen would say:

I feel strong now and hopefully I’m not that far away. It wasn’t my hamstring in the end. I had a tendon tear in my backside, which I ended up playing on with last season and that flared up again.”

All being well he will only be absent for the visits to Ewood of Everton on Wednesday and the Champions Chelsea on Sunday, who themselves are sure to cause Rovers a few pains in the backside!
