Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that Aaron Mokoena has not got a broken leg and that he could be ready to face Liverpool at Ewood Park on Saturday.

It was feared at first that Mokoena had suffered a serious injury after he was taken from the firld on a stretcher during last night’s win over Portsmouth.

But a visit to the hospital revealed last night that there was no break, but there was concerns over how serious the injury might be.

‘He’s okay thankfully,’ Hughes told the club’s official website.

‘He obviously got a bang on his leg, he has a plate in it from a previous injury and as he went back onto the field of play he felt a pain which probably frightened him more than anything.

‘So obviously he came off, but I’ve seen him this morning and he is walking around. He’s a little bit sore but we’ll see how he is tomorrow.

‘But he is obviously not as bad as we initially thought. He feels a lot better in himself and hopefully he’ll settle down and he may well be an option for us.’
