Blackburn chairman John Williams has declared that there will be no new faces at Ewood Park prior to January’s transfer window.

Rovers have invited several players for trials in the last few weeks, with a host of speculation that Rovers would be making some free agent signings soon.

Some fans have been panicking (rather stupidly) after the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal, but John Williams remains calm.

Speaking to Sky Sports, John Williams said -‘The bottom line is we aren’t short on numbers in the squad and I think it’s highly unlikely anyone will be coming in between now and the re-opening of the window.

‘We aren’t planning to bring anyone in at the moment but, of course, that could change if someone was presented to us that would really improve the team.

‘We’re only four games in so there’s no need to panic. The goals conceded are horrible but we’ll improve.

‘Sometimes trialists do pay off, sometimes they don’t. It’s always better to try and sample before you buy.

‘If you look at our purchases though, they haven’t come through trials yet. So perhaps that suggests that having players on trial doesn’t result in signings.’

Good words from an intelligent man. Trial signings in most cases will NOT improve the squad or the first sixteen. We have a good squad and will bounce back, just support Nelsen and the boys, don’t get on their backs.
