Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire has had a highly successful loan spell with Olympiakos and it’s understood that they would like to keep him. However, no negotiations have taken place yet.

Some reports in Greece were saying that negotiations over a permanent deal for Derbyshire had already gotten underway but his agent Gary Porter has said that no talks have taken place about a deal for the England Under-21 International and wouldn’t until the end of the season, if they did at all.

Porter told skysports.com: “Matt has really enjoyed himself in Greece, but there has been no talks between both clubs and there will be none until the Premier League season finishes at the earliest.

Six goals in eleven appearances have made Derbs a success in Greece and it’s with his help that Olympiakos have clinched the Greek Title and made it into the Cup Final.

Sam Allardyce has spoken highly of Derbs recently, which suggested that he would return to Ewood Park but when you think about it (as pointed out by someone else) the fact that Allardyce allowed Derbs to leave at a time when we needed all the players that we could (particularly strikers!!!) to help stave off relegation and the fact that Big Sam will be looking to buy new players in the summer it’s not looking good for Derbs getting a staring role (maybe much of a role?) at Ewood next season so as disappointed as I’d be (as I’m a HUGE Derbs fan as we well know) I’m fully expecting him to complete a permanent move to Olympiakos if a fee can be agreed.
