After successfully coming through a medical Democratic Republic of Congo International Shabani Nonda has completed his season-long loan move to Ewood Park, with the option of making the move permanent at the end of this period.

The 29-year-old forward has a very good goalscoring record having scored 128 goals in 269 games between 1995 and the present day. During this time he has had spells in Switzerland with FC Zurich (75 games 36 goals), France with Rennes (62 games 31 goals) and Monaco, one winning the Golden Boot (116 games 57 goals) and most recently Italy with Roma, with whom he only made 16 appearances going on to score four goals.

Mark Hughes has been looking all summer to strengthen his squad and Nonda will be a welcome addition, especially with their poor start to the season. Lack of opportunity will see the move to Ewood Park give Nonda the chance to play regular football, as long he can remain fit, overcoming his injuries.
