Blackburn have added Joe Nuttall, who previously had a trial at Ewood Park when a youngster at Manchester City, following a successful trial this summer.

Nuttall, 20, has signed a one year deal with Rovers, which comes with the option of another 12 months.

The forward has spent the past two years at Aberdeen, making an impact for the Scottish Premiership clubs U20 side, but was limited in his first team action, securing this on loan at Stranraer and Dumbarton.

Nuttall came on in the victory over York and has bagged goals in Blackburn’s U23 side during his trial recently.

He told the Official Website: ‘I’m just excited to get going and to see what I can do for the club and hopefully I can do good things. Everyone has been so kind, from the minute I came in I felt like I was a player here. I want to try and push to get first team football, that is the aim, and I just can’t wait. It is a big club with a lot of history and I’m just looking forward to playing here.’

Blackburn added the forward to the squad following confirmation of Anthony Stokes’ contract being terminated.

A statement on the Official Website read: ‘Blackburn Rovers have reached an agreement with Anthony Stokes to terminate the player’s contract with immediate effect. The 28-year-old striker joined Rovers from Celtic last summer and scored three goals in 12 appearances for the club.’
