Image for Olsson admits Rovers exit wish

Rovers defender/winger Martin Olsson has confessed to a Swedish media outlet that he was seeking an exit from the club over the course of the summer.

It was no secret that Olsson and his agent Martin Dahlin were trying to seek pastures new for the longer serving one of the Olsson twins but a move failed to materialise with the club pricing him out of a move by asking for £7m for the Swede.

Southampton, Stoke and West Brom were all credited with an interest in Martin but whilst the likes of Steven N’Zonzi, Yakubu and Junior Hoilett all made their way off into the sunset the left sided player had to stay put.

Olsson told Sportbladet – ‘I wanted to leave, I want to continue to play in the Premier League. There were offers, but the club rejected them.’

‘Even if we had managed to stay in the Premier League, I would have liked to try something new.’

Not the wisest of comments given his comeback is not far off now….
