Rovers have been spared one major headache ahead of the January transfer window with news that Martin Olsson is now settled at Rovers and is not attempting to force a move away from the club.

One of the summer’s most protracted transfer ‘affairs’ involved the Swedish international, who had announced via his agent Martin Dahlin that he was looking to move back to the Premier League after Rovers relegation.

But the move failed to materialise as Rovers dug their heels in, with Olsson somewhat reluctantly staying to face at least a few months in the Championship.

But after the departure of Kean, Martin (who had a known dislike for our former manager) seems to have had a change of heart.

Olsson told the Lancashire Telegraph – “I am focused on Blackburn, that`s it. Too much came out in the media before that I wanted to leave and I didn`t want to play here.

“I love the club, I have been here seven years and I only have positive things to say about the club.

“Right now I`m just focusing on Rovers, that`s all.”

It probably helps that reassuring words were forthcoming from his national team manager Erik Hamren, who has confirmed that Olsson’s place in the Sweden side is to remain intact – providing he maintains his form for the Scandinavians.

“The national team coach called me before the games (this season) and said even if I play with Blackburn here in the Championship it`s no problem, as long as I deliver in the national team,” Olsson clarified.

“That was reassuring, of course. But I just want to get us up to the Premier League, that`s it.

“I want to be involved, I want to be a part of that.”
