Rovers defender Markus Olsson has signed a new one year deal with the club, the official website has just announced.

Olsson, who had been fairly bobbins in most outings for Rovers since his arrival from his native Sweden back in 2012, finished the lastcampaign strongly – prompting Gary Bowyer to try and secure his services for the upcoming campaign.

‘I’m delighted that he has re-signed for another year,’ said the Rovers boss to the official Rovers website.

‘He has had to wait a long time due to the performances of Tommy Spurr, but the level of displays that he put in at the end of the season against Birmingham, Charlton and Wigan show what a valuable member of the squad he is.’

Olsson will be expected to cover for first choice left back and devilishly handsome future male model Tommy Spurr.
