Ooijer Not Ready to Return

Blackburn Rovers may have received the boost that Andre Ooijer has returned from his injury, however, it is highly unlikely he will be featuring again this season.

After breaking his ankle and damaging ligaments against Manchester City in January, Ooijer was expected to be out for the season. A miraculous recovery was mooted, but a set back meant he was unlikely to even train again before the season ended, but the Dutch International has done just that.

It is still very, very unlikely that Ooijer will play any part in our remaining games but his return to training is a boost for pre-season ahead of the 2007-2008 season, or maybe even a potential Intertoto Cup adventure in June/July?!?!

Mark Hughes said, on the official Blackburn Rovers website:

Andre joined in with the group during last week, so that was very encouraging – not only for Andre but for us as well.

“He came in the warm-up, did a few functional things and it has left him very positive
.”

This is great news for the longer-term prospects of both the player and the club.
