Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has given a revealing interview to shed some light on the acrimonious departure of Michael Appleton, who left Blackpool for Ewood Park last Friday.

Oyston has insisted that any rumours of a fall out between himself and the Voldermort lookalike are wide of the mark, instead pointing blame on the managerial switch firmly at Rovers.

“Nothing comes as a surprise in football,” Oyston told the Blackpool Gazette.

“It`s not uncommon for people to come and go, although maybe not as quickly as this.

“It`s not the first time and it won`t be the last. People always default to conspiracy theories, but there was no fall out.

“We were very clear about how we do things here when we interviewed Michael.

“We make sure anyone who comes to work here is clear about how we do things.

“Any rumours that Michael and I fell out are factually
incorrect.”

The approach for Appleton was a fairly straightforward affair in spite of Blackpool initially declining permission for Rovers to talk to their manager of only 12 games.

But after permission was granted after talks on Thursday afternoon, Rovers had installed their man by the same time the following day.

But despite it seeming a very dull affair, Oyston still had a parting shot for the way Rovers are run.

Oyston continued – “Disappointment isn`t the right way of putting it.

“It`s unfortunate we`ve become embroiled in the disaster shipwreck Blackburn have become and embroiled in their antics.

“It`s a shame the way they are being run has de-stabilised us.”

Appleton himself, who has moved to East Lancashire with his assistant Ashley Westwood, has himself given a statement expressing his pleasure at joining Rovers… his third club in less than three months.

In a manager statement, he said – “I`m delighted to be joining such an historic club. This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I`m excited about the
challenge we have ahead of us.

“I can`t wait to start working with what is a very talented group of
players.”

It’s never dull is it?
