On-loan Swansea forward Marvin Emnes spent the majority of the season with Blackburn but the former Middlesbrough man will seek pastures new this summer.

His contract with Swansea, looking as if they will win their own battle to retain their own topflight status, expires at the end of the season when Emnes will almost certainly be released by the Premier League side – he’ll not join Rovers in League One.

Upon his Ewood Park exit Emnes spoke of his appreciation for the support shown him and how much this spell was enjoyed.

Emnes told the Official Website: ‘I appreciated the support from the fans and everyone around the club. I enjoyed my time at Blackburn Rovers from the first minute until the last.’

Adding: ‘It was good to get some game time again and I have to thank Blackburn Rovers for that. ‘

The Dutchman feels the ‘only was is up’ for Blackburn now that Rovers are going down.

He said: ‘We made it difficult for ourselves, as our squad was too good for what happened to us. We will see what the future brings, but again thank you for the support. The only way is up!’

Emnes, 28, scored four goals in his 37 appearances for Blackburn, including the Goal of the Season runner up against Wigan, however, most of these goals came early in his spell at Ewood.
