Pedersen – A New Position?

Blackburn Rovers posses one of the sweetest left-foots in the European game in the shape of Morten Gamst Pedersen. This was exemplified with ‘that’ goal at the weekend against Hungary. However, whilst we at Ewood Park have become accustomed to his sublime first touch, explosive finishing and exquisite crossing we are less aware of his off-field exploits.

When he arrived on our shores following his transfer from Tromso, many fans in Norway regarded him as ‘the David Beckham of Norwegian football’. It was easy to see why once he began to establish himself in the side under Mark Hughes. The only two differences were his nationality and the fact he uses his left foot as opposed to the famous right foot of Beckham’s.

However, the comparisons began to grow stronger as he demonstrated an elaborate dress sense around Blackburn town centre. Time spent on his hair was also noticed; in fact Sky Sports coverage once caught Morten tidying up his hair not long after he had been substituted.

His off-field antics are getting somewhat more questionable though. Let me present you with Morten`s new favourite past time? Singing!

Morten along with some friends from back home have formed a ‘boy-band’ and released a single. (Coincidentally, one of the other band members is Kristofer Haestad, recently linked with a move to Rovers). They are called ‘the players’, an apt name I think, and their opening single is called “This is For Real”.

In all fairness it has been done to raise money for a number of organisations connected with UEFA, like anti-racism.

What next for Morten? Will he soon have his own clothing brand, a selection of perfumes? Or perhaps he is just gearing himself up for a career outside of football? All I know is that he can sing better than some superstars! Maybe.

This link SHOULD allow you to hear, and as I`ve been led to believe see Morten and his friends performing “This is For Real.” I say should as I must admit it hasn’t allowed me to see it but James has. Click Here
