Andy Taylor is a local lad who is yet another product of the successful Blackburn Rovers youth Academy.

Taylor, who is very highly rated by all connected to Rovers is more than comfortable anywhere along the back four although he usually occupies an indeed prefers a left-back position.

In order for the youngster to gain some first team experience in the 2005-2006 season Mark Hughes sent Taylor to Blackpool on loan in February 2006.

Having already been capped at under-19 and under-20 levels for England Taylor will be hoping to step up to the under-21’s at some point in the future.

Taylor was given a squad number of 26 during the 2005-2006 season and although up to December of the 2006-2007 season he is still to make a senior appearance for Rovers he has featured in Squads, most notably the away leg with Salzburg in the first round of this seasons UEFA Cup so he’ll me hoping to get his chance soon.

For more first team experience Taylor was sent out on loan again in October 2006, this time to Crewe Alexandra with the scheduled to end at the end of the year, although Rovers do have a recall clause in place. You don’t get many better teachers than Dario Gradi so he’ll learn even more from him with Crewe.
