Sergio Peter is one of the brightest talents to emerge from the Blackburn Rovers academy in recent years; and what’s more he made an immediate impact!

The left sided midfielder was instrumental in the Rovers youth sides progress to the 2002-2003 Youth Cup semi finals before unfortunately missing most of the 2003-2004 season through injury. Once Peter recovered he spent the remainder of the 2003-2004 season on loan with Rovers Belgian feeder club Cercle Brugge.

Having made such an impression with the Belgian team Mark Hughes brought him into his senior squad for the 2005-2006 season. His debut came in the third round of the FA Cup against Queens Park Rangers on 7th January 2006; with Peter making an immediate impact setting up all three goals in a 3-0 win therefore winning the Man of the Match award.

Sergio gained his first cap at under-21 level with Germany in the summer of 2006 and will be looking to press forward his credentials for more game time for both Rovers and Germany at under-21 and possibly senior level in the 2006-2007 season and beyond but with Morten Gamst Pedersen as competition it will be very hard for him.
