At this rate I think we might have to rename this website Vital Jordan Rhodes as this is dominating the news on Vital Blackburn!!

However (if we’re fair) a player of the Rovers striker’s ability is bound to get plenty of tongues wagging and also see much speculation once news breaks of an official interest from a club, in particular a Premier League club like Hull City (the same Hull that happen to have his Uncle Steve Agnew working for them.)

Talks continue and more speculation has seen rumours of a £12million “package” being put to us that could see a deal done?? A significant amount of money has been offered plus the chance for us to bring in Alex Bruce as part of the deal with Steve Bruce once again showing that he’ll sacrifice his son, having done so already during his Managerial career (which has often seen him sign the defender too!!)

Bowyer would be interest in the twenty-nine-year-old and a return to Ewood Park could see him go full circle having started out as a junior with us. However, other reports claim that Hull’s offering includes cash plus three players (Bruce again included) in the hope of tempting us into the sale of the Scottish International??

When we’re talking amounts around the £10million to £12million ballpark it’s difficult for this to be turned down, I do think that we’ve got to accept this is the case and understand the position, but my worry is how much of that money would be reinvested into Rovers though??

My personal preference would be to hang tight and continue to refuse the offer and keep him until January at least.

Rhodes must’ve been happy to commit his future to Rovers or he wouldn’t have signed a new contract (for what contracts are worth these days!!) but I’d also imagine that a “you can talk to a Premier League club if an acceptable offer was made” conversation was also had?? Much depends on how much Rhodes has had his head turned, if it’s been turned too much then we might be into a hiding to nothing but if he’s still committed to the club (as I hope he is) then I say we hold out until the January transfer window (and wait for that speculation) to see where we are in the Championship at that point??

At this moment Rhodes is believed to be in the squad to face AFC Bournemouth today, if he’ll start isn’t so clear but it shouldn’t be under doubt (unless he’s had his head turned) as his commitment to Rovers was clear, very, very clear, just a few short weeks ago.

I’m starting (with Bruce stating “a deal is close”) to think it’s a battle we’ll lose though.
