Preston Hoping To Keep Gallagher

Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Gallagher is due to return to Ewood Park at the end of the month, but Preston North End are hoping that Rovers will agree to extend this loan further.

When the Scottish International went out on loan to Preston Rovers manager Mark Hughes always insisted that the loan would only be until the end of the year and he would then want him to return, but with Rovers out of Europe as well as the Carling Cup with his chances likely to be VERY limited should he return (not forgetting that Benni McCarthy wont be going to the African Cup of Nations as had been expected afterall) Preston manager Alan Irvine is hoping that we will agree to extend his loan.

Irvine told the Official Preston North End Website: “Paul is not our player and we must accept that. I am not sure that we will be able to keep him long term.

“I need to speak to Mark Hughes and he needs to let me know exactly what his plans are for Paul. We will have to wait and see.

“I certainly do not want too many people to go in January, that’s for sure
.”

Gally has always been a player that I would like to see play more, but I he is not that likely to get into the side if he returned so it makes sense to let him stay out longer (for his sake as much as anything else.)
