Blackburn Rovers teenager Scott Wharton has been rewarded with a professional contract for his progress through the Blackburn Academy.

Wharton has signed a two and a half year deal with Rovers that’ll see him through until the summer of 2018, by which time he’ll be hoping to have made his mark on the first team squad under Gary Bowyer (or whomever the Rovers Manager is at the time).

His deal was revealed on The Official Blackburn Rovers Website on Thursday evening.

The central defender has been a regular for former Rovers midfielder Damien Johnson in the Under-21 Development Squad with the seventeen year old (who will turn eighteen on Saturday, with a nice present being this contract followed up by a Rovers win over Ipswich Town!!) likely to go out on loan at some point you sense??
