Blackburn Rovers Manager Mark Hughes has praised the professionalism of his players after the Intertoto Cup victory over VK Vetra on Saturday, which took Rovers a step closer to the UEFA Cup proper this season.

The 4-0 win over Vetra at Ewood Park completed a 6-0 aggregate victory in the Intertoto Cup Third Round, and saw Rovers into the draw for the UEFA Cup Second Qualification Round (this draw takes place on Friday) much to Hughes’ delight, with his praising at a job professionally done.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website:

We are very pleased, obviously once the first goal went in that was effectively the tie over.

“And obviously once the guy got sent off it was game over from our point of view.

“But when you are in that situation you want to make sure that you get the job professionally done, and I thought in the second half we used it to great effect, we were able to get a good workout, score a number of goals and finished it off in the right way so we are delighted with the day
.”
