Craig Conway is looking for Blackburn to follow up ‘our best performance of the season’ against Portsmouth, which was won 3-0 last weekend, with another against Wigan this afternoon.

The Ewood Park win over last season’s League Two champions has set Rovers up nicely for this meeting with our promotion rivals at the DW Stadium.

Conway told the Official Website: ‘I thought it was probably our best performance of the season. The lads were brilliant, first half especially, and I felt we were comfortable in the end. It was a great result and it puts us nicely into the game against Wigan on Saturday.’

This is a tester but one Conway, who was among the goalscorers last weekend, feels gives us a chance to ‘see where we’re at’ as Blackburn look to lay down a marker, not only to Wigan but others around the promotion areas.

‘They’ve been going really well, so it’s a massive game for us. I suppose it’s a test to really see where we’re at. I think we’ve definitely got it in us to go and get a result there, but they’ll be thinking exactly the same thing,’ said Conway.

Adding: ‘I think they’re sitting second in the table, they’ve been playing really well and they’re on quite a long winning run, but we’re definitely more than capable of getting a result, so hopefully we can do that.’

Points on the board are better than games in hand but Rovers do have a couple of these but a run of results is now wanted so three points would most definitely give us a platform to work from.

He said: ‘We’ve got a couple of games in hand, but you’d rather have the points on the table, so we want to go there and if we can get three points it will definitely put a marker down and put a bit of pressure on the teams around about us. We’ve got ourselves into a better position now and we’ve got a couple of games in hand, so we need to put a run together and hopefully that starts on Saturday.’
