Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid has made his return from a nightmare 15-months of injuries, and has settled back into the team quite nicely but he was MORE than worried for a while.

The Republic of Ireland International feared that his career could have been ended by his cruciate knee ligament injury picked up almost a year ago, an injury that was picked up in training after battling back from a long-term back problem.

Before his injuries he had helped Rovers to a sixth place finish at the end of the 2005-2006 Premier League Season, but rarely kicked a ball in anger until his return just a few weeks back. He found this time out difficult to deal with but the support and time spent with his family and insuring he kept his mindset right got him through an injury that he feared could have finished him.

Reid told Setanta Sports: “The only good thing about the injury was that I got to spend more time with Isla. She probably thought that Daddy was unemployed – my wife probably thought the same.

“I was crying my eyes out because I knew straight away that it was a serious injury. Growing up, a cruciate ligament injury is the one you fear because it is the one that can put you out of the game.

“I knew it was going to be a problem but I got my head round getting the treatment done right
.”

Thankfully he is back, and has shown signs that he could be as good (if not better) as he was when he was at his very best before injury, a best, which had seen him linked with Manchester United.
