Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid has been recalled to the Republic of Ireland squad for their upcoming International with Wales.

Despite not playing a first team match for club or country for more than a year (after a nightmare time with injuries) with him now getting close to his Rovers return Reid has been called up for Ireland’s final European Championship Qualifier taking place in Cardiff on 17th November.

Ireland’s caretaker manager Don Givens told the Football Association of Ireland’s Official Website: “I am delighted Steven is back to full fitness after his injury problems and it will be a big boost for us to have him in the squad.”

This shows just how important the Irish feel Reidy is to them if they are so keen to get him back involved, despite his lack of first team football. Personally I’m not sure if this is the right thing though?!?!
