Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid is FINALLY ready to make his Rovers return, with this coming in a reserve game against Sunderland on Monday.

Reid was such a key figure during the 2005-2006 season that his form gained rumoured interest from Manchester United, and particularly Tottenham Hotspur but he decided that he wanted to repay the clubs fans by staying. However, a back injury in August 2006 sustained on International duty with the Republic of Ireland saw him sidelined until the start of this year.

With a return imminent he suffered cruciate knee ligament damage in training and that saw him out for the rest of last season. He has since suffered hamstring and calf injuries, which have hampered his progress even more but finally he is ready to pull on a Rovers shirt again, and should he come through this reserve game he could be back playing first team football by the end of the month?

Rovers manager Mark Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “Steven Reid’s been training with the group this week, he’s done very well.

“He’s done everything that is expected of him, has trained hard and he’s looking to be involved in the reserves against Monday.

“If everything goes well then we’ll arrange another couple of games for him to step up his fitness
.”

Why just have to hope and pray he comes through this match (and subsequent matches) safely!!!
