Reid set for another back scan

It is hoped that a scan on Blackburn Rovers’ midfielder Steven Reid’s back will this week finally once and for all determine what the problem is.

The Republic of Ireland International has been unable to appear for Rovers since 27th August as Rovers lost to Chelsea in the Premiership due to the back injury picked up whilst on International duty a week later.

The 25-year-old’s back problem is now starting to concern Rovers boss Mark Hughes:

Steve’s still having pain in his back. He’s going for another scan.

Hopefully that will be more conclusive and we can get right down to the problem.

We want it resolved one way or the other. We need to know exactly what the problem is and hopefully this next scan will do that.”

Although it is hoped that it will not be too bad some stories are suggesting that this injury could in fact see Reid miss the remainder of the 2006-2007 season! Hopefully these are proved wide of the mark and we can receive some good news on reidy in the coming days.
