Steven Reid has left Blackburn on a free transfer to join newly promoted West Brom.

Reid has basically lived on the injury table for the last two seasons and with his contract expiring had done nowhere near enough to earn a new deal at Ewood Park.

But this represents a fresh start for the very likeable Steven who has been at Rovers for a while… since 2003.

Reid was rumoured to be going to Scotland to participate in the four game super knockout cup, er sorry, I mean SPL with Celtic but chose the club he spent 3 months on laon to at the end of last season.

Was the Baggies boss pleased? Ask him yourself…

‘We are delighted Reidy has decided to rejoin us on a permanent basis,’ manager Roberto Di Matteo told Albion’s official website.

‘He made a big impact last year both on and off the field. He was a consistent performer and also great in the dressing room.

‘Having spent the last six years or so in the Premier League he knows the division inside-out and that kind of experience could prove invaluable.’

Goodbye Stevie, I will always remember that thunderbolt of an effort against Wigan at the JJB.
