Owen Coyle has made his first signing since becoming Blackburn boss with Anthony Stokes signed on a free transfer following his release by Scottish Premiership Champions Celtic.

27-year-old Stokes, who ended last season on loan with Hibernian, started his career with Arsenal, spending time with Sunderland and Celtic before signing this three-year deal with Blackburn opting for Rovers having been linked with Championship rivals Rotherham, who are now under the management of his former Hibs boss Alan Stubbs.

This is a good addition to the squad isn’t it with him a player capable of scoring goals!

During his time with Celtic, which ended on a sour note, he scored 77-goals in 192-matches and won four titles and two Scottish Cups too.

Now with his future secured for the next three-years the Republic of Ireland international will look to get his career back on track (which had seen him pick up a Scottish Cup winners medal during his loan return to Hibs last season) at Ewood Park.

Will he do this? We’ll find out soon enough but will certainly hope so!
