Brett Emerton could be out of action for up to nine months after sustaining a cruciate knee injury against Middlesbrough.

The Aussie midfielder was replaced by Dave Dunn in the second half of Saturdays’ game and is reported to be heading home for surgery.

The Daily Mirror is first off the mark witht the news – ‘The long-serving star will miss the survival fight and the start of the next season after the freak injury,’

‘He has been given time off to go home and be with relatives while he recovers.’

If this report is accurate this is a crushing blow for both player and club.

Brett has been arguably Rovers most consistent player this season.
