Rhodes at the Double!

After a slight blimp in the race for promotion, Blackburn Rovers returned to winning ways with a dominant performance against Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park.

With Jordan Rhodes restored to the starting line up, and Ben Marshall playing the ‘In the hole’ position, Blackburn set out with an attacking intent. Evans and Lowe held the midfield together as Blackburn Rovers dominated from the outset.

Jordan Rhodes was the hero on the day, improving on what has been a slightly baron year in front of goals to date, a brace in the first 20 minutes sending Rovers on their way to an easy 2-0 victory.

Gary Bowyer would have been impressed in the way Blackburn dominated proceedings, but missed opportunities by Marshall, Gestede and King highlight that Rovers still have a long way to go if they are to mount a serious promotion challenge. A clean sheet against a team in a similar ladder position hopefully indicates that the back 4 are starting to strengthen the ship in defence

Next up, Bolton on Boxing Day!
