Blackburn have allowed Maceo Rigters to leave on loan until the end of the season. Norwich have signed Maceo Rigters today, beating off a host of other competitors.

Rigters, 24, has found himself 5th in the pecking order this season behind Benni McCarthy, Santa Cruz, Jason Roberts and Matt Derbyshire.

Speaking on Norwich’s website, Maceo has stated, ‘I am very happy to get a chance to play for such a big club as Norwich City, a club with tremendous history. I am very much looking forward to the atmosphere in the stadium which I have heard so much about.’

City boss Glenn Roeder was thankful to Rovers boss Mark Hughes for letting Maceo leave for a few months, again speaking to Norwich’s official website -‘I am delighted that Mark Hughes at Blackburn has agreed to let us sign Maceo Rigters – a player who I first saw play for Holland in the Under 21 European Championships last summer where he was the leading scorer.

‘I think that this is a good and new opportunity for him to come to us with seven games to go and show everybody what he’s capable of doing – scoring goals – which have been lacking this season.

‘It was also nice to know that we beat off strong interest from a number of prominent Championship clubs.’

Rigters has not scored for Blackburn in six appearances this term, he has found his route to the first team blocked and surely this is best for all concerned to allow Mr.Rigters to get some game time and come back recharged for a better push at the first team next year.
