  • I concur, Mike.

Without him, we would probably still be languishing in the lower divisions rather than being on the brink of a major takeover. There would’ve been no Premier League title, no Carling Cup and no Shearer. He provided us with solidity and stability, and he gave us a firm foundation to build upon.

Mr. Syed may takeover the club very soon, but in the hearts of Rovers fans, Jack will always be the clubs true owner. Our ambitions and dreams may lie with the new owners, but our hearts will always lie with Jack.

What other club sings the name of their owner every match? What other club has a statue of a deceased owner outside of their ground? I can’t think of any. For a club owner to be revered in such a way, he has to have such a profound impact on the fans that he will live on in their memory forever. Jack did just that.

RIP, Uncle Jack. A true gentleman, a true legend and most importantly, a true Rover.

  • The 94/95 title winning season hasn’t been matched for entertainment value and is unlikely to be matched again and it was all thanks to your love for the club. Thanks for the memories, RIP Uncle Jack

  • He helped build the team that we love and I thank him for that. So lucky were Rovers to have Jack as a fan. RIP Jack Walker there’s only one. There are no superlatives good enough to describe the man. Still missed

  • Only one Jack Walker! a legend for the club in terms of investment, i just never agreed with his ‘no black players’ policy; but that’s because i can’t tolerate racism.
