Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson isn’t worrying about his continued absence from the England squad, however, he says he is ready if called upon.

Robinson managed to force his way back into Fabio Capello’s England plans but has since been left out of recent International squads but this isn’t something that’s worrying him.

Robinson told the Lancashire Telegraph (when asked about his “International exile”): “Do you know what? I’ve not even thought about it really.

“I am just concentrating on playing well here. Enjoying my football again has been the most important thing for me. I’m doing that. I’m really enjoying playing and training.

The 29-year-old says that he’s not given his omission much thought and has actually enjoyed being able to watch England for a change, but if called upon he’ll be ready.

He added: “To be honest I’ve been an interested spectator with the England thing but I haven’t really given it much thought on a personal level. If it happens, it happens.

“But if I’m needed, I’m ready, yes.

If Capello don’t want to select Robinson that’s the Italians choice, what Robbo does for Rovers is our priority at the moment and despite some people constantly knocking him (and personally I feel very unfairly at times) although he’s not been spectacular this season he’s done OKAY. Robbo always had a HUGE act to follow in Brad Friedel, and sometimes I think this is held against him, however, we have to remember Friedel was still very much a world-class goalkeeper when he left and Robbo arguably probably never has been, and never will be, in the American’s class.
