Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson is ready to challenge for his place back once again.

However, with Rovers in good form and Jason Steele performing well in goal not only is Gary Bowyer reluctant to change a winning (and successful) side you’d think it somewhat harsh on Steele if he were to drop out in favour of Robinson!!

I’ve always been a fan of Robbo’s and I believed him to be the best goalkeeper that we had at the club (potentially Jake Kean could develop into a very good goalkeeper) with a few eyebrows (myself included) raised when Steele came in on loan from Middlesbrough as I didn’t think that we needed another goalkeeper for starters and certainly didn’t have this as a priority.

A knee injury meant that Steele was given his chance after the Derby County defeat (coming in for the Fulham match) and he’s stayed in since, helping us to an unbeaten run of five matches from the seven matches he’s played in and that includes three successive wins.

Thirty-five-year-old Robbo is now back to full fitness and keen to win his place back but Steele’s in on merit at the moment so the former England International’s going to have to bide his time, however, at his age time is against him and it’s believed that his frustrations are growing??

Robinson has battled back previously, and proven he should be the Rovers number one, however, perhaps this time his numbers up?? Another of the highest earners at Ewood Park could well be one that we feel is “surplus to requirements” now?!
