Blackburn Rover striker Jason Roberts has confessed that getting a place in next season’s UEFA Cup will now be difficult.

Roberts was reflecting after the 1-1 draw with Fulham at Ewood Park on Saturday, and he feels that the two points dropped following Jimmy Bullard’s late equaliser with a free kick could make the difference, and might mean Rovers missing out on Europe next season, especially after the way the FA Cup went, and another League placing removed as a result of the shock results.

Roberts told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It’s not been a great day, but we have plenty of games coming up and we have to remain positive and see where it takes us.

“We were aware of what had happened in the Cup, I don’t think it affected us, but, obviously, we wanted it all to be in our own hands. Today wasn’t our best effort.

“We have to believe we can still get into Europe somehow. The top five looks a long way off, but we must keep trying for it
.”

Rovers were overall disappointing against Fulham, but still had enough chances to have won the match, but JR was most definitely a plus that afternoon, once again coming on as a substitute to have a major impact, with he setting ups Morten Gamst Pedersen’s goal.

He added: “I try my best with the minutes I am given and just try to make an impact, which I think I did today.

“I’m the same as anyone who doesn’t play – we’re all the same, we’re selfish and we want to play.

“But I still want to do well for Blackburn, I have a lot of respect for my fellow players and they have for me, so I’ll always give 110 per cent for them
.”
