Roberts Going Nowhere

Blackburn Rovers have moved quickly to quash speculation that Jason Roberts could go to Everton.

Speculation has linked Everton with a £3.5 million bid for the powerful Rovers forward, but this has been written off with the club insisting Roberts is NOT FOR SALE!

JR is (in my opinion anyway) the first name put on the team sheet by Mark Hughes when it comes to the forwards as his power, pace and even goalscoring ability (as we saw at the end of the season, and have seen over the years with other clubs) makes him a complete forward. Others, Benni McCarthy, Matt Derbyshire, Shabani Nonda etc. etc. can and will play off him. He adds the special ingredient that we need.

Meanwhile Rovers have also denied claims that Derby County have entered the bidding for Francis Jeffers (Bents4eng your Derby supporting housemate will be pleased!)

Derby had been reported as being willing to pay £1.5 million for the one time England strikers services but this has been denied, and Ipswich Town remain in pole position for his signature (despite having a second bid rejected.) With a reported 20% sell on fee expected soon, due to a clause in Darren Bent’s Charlton Athletic contract, if and when he goes (more likely to be WHEN!) they will receive a little extra to help them closer to Rovers’ £1 million valuation.
