Roberts Injury Setback For Rovers

Blackburn Rovers’ Carling Cup victory over Birmingham City was tarnished slightly with an injury to Jason Roberts, which saw the powerful Rovers striker limp off slightly before the hour mark.

Roberts (who had put in an impressive performance) was handed a start and was causing Birmingham problems before he had to limp away from the match with what looks like an injury that could sideline him for a few weeks (believed to be a thigh problem?), but Roberts, manager Mark Hughes and us (well most of us!) will be hoping it isn’t too serious, and early thoughts from Hughes were that he hopes it isn’t and is remaining positive.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “He thinks he has pulled his thigh, so we hope it is not too bad.

“I thought Jason did very well last night. It was a different role for him, but he was causing them problems so it was a shame that he couldn’t cap off his performance with a goal.

“But we hope that his injury isn’t too serious
.”

I know that JR is not as highly regarded by some as he is others, but I still genuinely believe he has a MASSIVE part to play for Rovers, offering us something VERY different from anyone else so I really hope this isn’t too serious an injury.
