Jason Roberts is confident if given the chances to play that he will score goals.

Roberts has always been something of a comedy figure amongst fans at Ewood Park but his goals ratio is actually a lot better than he his is given credit for.

After his goal against his former club Wigan at the weekend, Roberts has a new confidence about himself and even gave himself a little sales pitch in an interview with the Lancashire Telegraph.

If this isn’t a verbal advert for a new club then I don’t know what is…

Roberts spoke to the Lancashire Telegraph and said – “I am totally relaxed. My record in every league shows I can score goals so I am totally relaxed about it.

“It is no surprise if I come in and score goals, it is not a big deal, it is what you do. You miss some, you score some but you keep going.

“My record suggests I will score goals if I play so I am comfortable, will train hard, keep doing what I have done all my career, which got me here, and whatever happens happens.

“I will endeavour to keep getting in the team and if selected I will do the best I can. That is what I have always done, whether I have played good, bad or indifferent.

“For me I will keep trying to get in the team and come January, like me and the manager have said, we will look at it again.

“What I have done in the past shows what I can do. I have got goals at all levels, I have got no problem. If someone wants to do something about it they will, if they don’t they don’t.”

Roberts has revealed that he doesn’t have recurring nightmares like the rest of us over his miss against Chelsea, merely shrugging it off as one of those things.

Roberts continued to back himself – “I didn’t even think for one minute about the miss against Chelsea, that is football. I have scored more than I have missed.

“For me to be playing at this level and scoring the goals I have scored, you are going to miss some. I don’t think twice about that.

“You keep going and try to do better next time and today it is the winning goal.”

The win over his former club Wigan didn’t bring much joy to the Grenadan but it Jason is hoping that the win will act as a starting point for a run of good games.

Roberts said – “It was a big game for us. We didn’t play very well today and yet we have played really well and lost games.

“That was the other side of the fence and I am happy with that. It is always good to be playing and scoring goals and part of a winning team and that is what happened.

“The dressing room is buzzing and hopefully it is a turn around in our season. It is good to be part of that.

“It is great paying football. It is great to be out there, running about, scoring goals with your team mates and working hard for each other and most importantly winning.”
