Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams has said that Rovers DO NOT WANT TO and WILL NOT be selling Jason Roberts, despite his apparent desire to leave.

Roberts is reported as being unhappy at Ewood Park and could be looking for a route away from the club when the transfer window re-opens next month, but Williams has said that he is not for sale and the club are not looking to sell despite interest from Derby County, Fulham and Sunderland.

Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph: “I’m not aware of any interest and, in my opinion, we would want to keep him at the club.”

Since this Rovers manager Mark Hughes has admitted that he has rejected a transfer request from JR and he hopes this will be backed by the board and he WILL stay until the summer if he does want to leave?

Hughes told the Sun: “Jason has handed in a transfer request.

“But I’ve told the board that I’m not looking to let anyone go in January because that would only weaken us as a squad.

“Jason is frustrated at his lack of opportunities, but I don’t want him to go and the board has always backed me in these situations in the past
