Robinson keeping options open

Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson has spoken about his future on Sky Sports News this afternoon, with him noncommittal over his long term plans.

Robinson, who is getting himself fit after a long term injury, did clarify that he will be back in training prior to next season after initial fears he could be out action as late as October.

But his own personal future seems to be on hold until Rovers finally rubber stamp who their next manager will be.

Robinson did sign a contract extension on the quiet early season which means he has another two years left to run on his Ewood deal, but with Jake Kean on the rise and given the likelihood of him starting the new term as no.1 between the sticks his permanent location for the 2013/14 season is still very much undecided.

Robinson told Sky Sports during a live broadcast – ‘My contract was extended at the beginning of last season. There was an option to do that and at the moment, I’ve got two years left at Blackburn.

‘I’m not sure where that’s going to lead me because there have been other options. I’ll just have to wait and see when I get back fit again.’

But any final decisions appear to be on the backburner until it is certain who will be the Rovers manager next season, with the club still sat down with their thumbs up their backsides until Venky’s rubberstamp the appointment.

When asked if he was happy at Rovers for now, Robinson commented – ‘At the moment, yes.

‘I don’t know what is going on. With previous managers, we’ve had different conversations. Until there’s an actual manager in place to have a conversation with about my own personal future, I’m just concentrating on getting myself fit and getting myself back.’
