Robinson ready to reconsider?

Image for Robinson ready to reconsider?

Paul Robinson could be ready to end his self-imposed exile from the international game.

Robinson was Fabio Capello’s afterthought in the goalkeeping stakes during the Italian’s reign in charge of the England national side as he was frequently pushed out of any contention for a starting place.

At the time Robbo felt he was not being given a fair crack of the whip and decided to rule himself out of any further squads whilst he was merely being used as a token goalkeeper behind (I swear no bias) inferior goalkeepers such as Scott Carson and Robert Green.

But with Capello now gone from the hot seat and an interim in Stuart Pearce appointed in his place to oversee things before Harry Redknapp inevitably takes over in the summer Robbo has confided in those around him that he would return to the fold.

Pearce has the task of picking a squad to face Holland in a Euro 2012 warm up fixture and our Paul actually finds himself in the enviable position of being firmly the second best goalkeeper who’s English in the country… behind Joe Hart is rightfully the designated number 1.
