Over the course of a season there are many things that happen that make us yelp with joy and rejoice till the cows come home – they’re brilliant and you’ll always remember them.

But on the other side of the coin there are times when you put your head in your hands and just want to curl up into a ball and cry – last season saw one too many of these moments as fans of Blackburn Rovers.

VBers have been voting on what they class as the ‘worst moment of the season’ in the VB End of Season Awards and unfortunately there was a fair field to choose from.

The sacking of Sam Allardyce, the 7-1 thumping by Man United in November and the 2-0 loss to Everton at Goodison all cropped up in the voting but there was a decisive winner.

The Rover23 Award for the Worst Moment of the Season goes to… the departure of John Williams.

Williams was a highly respected chairman, not just at Rovers but in UK football as general and had held a position at Ewood Park for 14 years.

Over the years John has steered the club through some pretty troubled times and at times single handedly kept the club in the Premier League with his astute financial management.

JW unfortunately came to a mutual decision to leave Rovers this year after Venky’s took over the club and called in a new era.

A sad day for the fans of the club and for John himself who has since rock up to Man City.
